Employment Type: New, Full-Time Permanent position
Salary: $100K plus incentive compensation
Are you a tech-forward self-starter with an entrepreneurial spirit who wants to support one of Canada’s fastest-growing exchange-traded fund (“ETF”) providers? Do you thrive on being the in-house IT expert who assists with everything from day-to-day technical issues to guiding the firm’s continued evolution toward greater technology and AI-enabled capabilities?
Hamilton ETFs offers:
· A competitive compensation package including comprehensive health and wellness benefits;
· Collaboration, open-mindedness and service-focused mindsets;
· Diverse and inspiring colleagues and approachable leaders;
· Opportunity to evolve in a growing firm.
Here’s what you will do:
We are seeking a proactive, "tech-forward" IT Services Specialist to serve as our internal technical lead. Working with a third-party Managed Services Provider (MSP), which manages our core infrastructure and servers, you will be the face of IT for our 30+ person team. You will bridge the gap between our daily operational needs and our external technical partners, ensuring our hardware, software, and emerging AI tools are leveraged to their fullest potential.
The IT Services Specialist is expected to lead and/or support the following key responsibilities:
· Act as the first point of contact for all day-to-day technical issues (hardware, software, connectivity) in a Windows and Microsoft 365 environment.
· Manage the lifecycle of an employee: hardware procurement, workstation setup and configuration, and local offboarding, engaging third-party providers where needed.
· Provide on-demand support to our team and ensure appropriate redundancy for zero downtime in a critical capital markets environment.
· Collaborate with our third-party MSP to ensure service tickets are resolved, serving as the on-site "eyes and ears" for the MSP as needed.
· Identify bottlenecks in our current workflows and propose technical improvements or solutions.
· Manage local asset tracking and inventory.
· Conduct internal audits and risk assessments for adherence with policies and internal controls.
· Keep current with technological advancements, sharing knowledge, and fostering a culture of continual learning and improvement within the team.
· Record troubleshooting steps and communicate solutions clearly to end users to improve understanding and support transparency.
· Assist with the adoption of different hardware and software, including AI tools (internal and third-party tools) to improve productivity while working within the guardrails of a regulated environment.
Qualifications and Experience
· Diploma or degree in computer science, software engineering, or computer engineering, or an acceptable combination of education and experience.
· 3-5 years in IT support or systems administration, preferably within financial services or a similarly regulated industry.
· Strong knowledge of the Microsoft 365 ecosystem (Teams, Office) and Windows in a corporate environment.
· Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to translate tech-speak into plain English for staff and business-speak into tech for our MSP.
· Programming experience would be an asset.
· Naturally curious with a genuine interest in innovation, including AI applications and how they can be applied to enhance productivity and improve outcomes across the business.
· Comfortable being the sole IT person on-site; highly organized and self-motivated.
· A team-oriented mindset, with an interest and aptitude to add value outside of core responsibilities.
